Klaus was in the Level 5 observation room, where he could often be found these days. There were few enough of them on this level that it was most often empty, and it was a welcome change from their suite. He was sitting on the floor at the very back of the room, his back to the wall, and he was sketching on a sheet of paper. The same animal, over and over again.
When Amy walked in, he was in the process of balling up the paper as he pushed up to his feet.

She presses her lips in a thin line, trying to actually voice a question. To find the question. "There's holes in my memory, Charles said. Even before all this happened, it's like a wall with half the bricks missing. Who is Mels? As far as you know."

And she clears her throat, because she's not looking for sympathy, just that she wanted him to know why her answer wasn't what he'd wanted to hear, an age ago. "I never thanked you for saving my life. So... Thank you." Nevermind that she'd saved his as well.

If he cared to.
Honestly, if he had his full set of powers, he might be happy enough to give it a try.
"Thanks for the pick-me-up," he answers, because while he doesn't see it as her saving his life, it was still something. After everything Lauren and her little posse must've told her about him, it's worth at least a thank-you. It also calls for another question. "Why didn't you take the vervain?"

"I'm glad I saved you, Amy Pond," he tells her, and yes, he's only just come to that conclusion, and he moves to walk past her and get out. "You might yet turn out alright."
In another tone, it might have been insulting, but this is actually the same sort of teasing he gave to the other Amy.
